Congratulations Maanzoni!
This past Saturday was a global birding day hosted by the online Ebird platform, where birding enthusiasts spend up to 24 hours looking for as many species in their area as possible! You all will recall that we have done a community bird walk for this day previously. Apologies-I was truly not able to self-organize a proper event this past weekend (there will be ideally more than one coming up this year though!). I was lucky to be able to join a small group of 5 people do did come to Maanzoni from Nairobi, and together we found 129 species! This placed Maanzoni as 16th in the country for most species found on Saturday! Our Maanzoni all-time species list currently stands at 320, which currently has us at #92 all-time in Kenya–a wonderful achievement.
Kenya as a country has finished as #10 in the world for this past weekend’s event!
Seeing the wildlife and nature was great, but the best part was having sundowners in the Stripey Horse bar at sunset. Unforgettable.
